Mental Health First Aid Training

EdAdvance—in collaboration with Greenwoods Counseling and Referrals, Inc., Western Connecticut Coalition (WCTC), and Apex Community Care—provides no-cost, mental health awareness training to all interested individuals, community-based organizations, agencies, and schools in Western CT.

We work to improve behavioral health outcomes of individuals with mental health disorders by training individuals to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health issues, increase mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and educate about mental health resources.

MHAT-WCT offers four evidence-based practices: three models of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) trainings (Adult, Youth and Teen) and QPR suicide prevention training. MHFA trainings are nationally recognized, evidence-based programs designed to help prepare individuals to help recognize and address mental health challenges among individuals in our community. QPR Suicide Prevention training teaches people how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) someone to help.

Funding for the trainings is generously provided by a SAMHSA Mental Health Awareness Training grant for Western Connecticut (MHAT-WCT).
