Growing Together Affinity Group-ELA Series

The Growing Together Series supports new teachers and educators across Connecticut seeking to strengthen their instructional practice in ELA. This professional learning community will meet five times throughout the school year during 90 minute, non-evaluative virtual sessions. Through collaboration, coaching, and reflection, participants receive support around individual professional growth goals, and evidence-based instructional practices to build confidence and improve student learning. Session topics will be driven by participant needs. The following topics may be of focus during the ELA affinity group: Building vocabulary, strengthening background knowledge and reading comprehension, making student thinking visible, and applying Science of Reading (SoR) research through high-impact routines that improve student outcomes. Highlights: Collaborative problem-solving and instructional PL, Strategies to strengthen planning, instruction, assessment, and classroom management, Connections to individual professional growth goals and district initiatives, A supportive network that fosters reflection, confidence, and continuous professional growth.
