EdAdvance’s Community Services program participants were honored at The Positive Expression Art Exhibit Award Ceremony on Friday, June 23, 2023 in Litchfield.
Family and friends were invited to join Brian Cohen, owner of Positive Expression, State Representative Jay Case, State Representative Karen Reddington-Hughes, and State Senator Lisa Seminara for the reading of a proclamation and presentations of citations from the Connecticut General Assembly. The citations were in acknowledgment of each individual's artistic talents that contributed to the Community Services indoor exhibit hosted by Positive Expression.
Positive Expression, an art initiative, was established in 1993 with a mission to nurture creative expression and advocate for the arts. Positive Expression hosts two indoor community exhibits, year-round at Brass Mill Center in Waterbury and Buckland Hills Mall in Manchester.
“This project is especially important to EdAdvance and the Community Services department. We are so proud of the dedication of all the participants as well as the staff that coordinated this opportunity and supported these artists in developing their artwork. We hope the community was able to visit the exhibit to explore their work and appreciated the diverse talents and perspectives expressed through each piece,” shared Jody Minotti, Director of Regional Initiatives and Transition Services, EdAdvance.
The Community Services group began conceptualizing their exhibit in February. The exhibit featured a display area spanning 10 feet in length with artwork created by program participants and staff, representing the Connection, Culture, and Collaboration they experience at EdAdvance.
EdAdvance extends our heartfelt gratitude to Brian Cohen, owner of Positive Expression, State Representative Jay Case, State Representative Karen Reddington-Hughes, and State Senator Lisa Seminara. Their unwavering support and commitment to this initiative has fostered an environment where creativity can thrive.
