School Grounds to Sound (SGS) School Grounds to Sound (SGS) is an engaging, place-based learner-centered academic enrichment program designed to increase watershed STEM skills and support Meaningful Watershed Environmental Education (MWEEs) for 90 diverse K-3 students in three 21st CCLC sites in Bristol, Connecticut. Students meet once a week after school at Indian Rock Nature Preserve in Bristol. The project demonstrates for young learnes how trash travels through watersheds. Day Support Option (DSO) EdAdvance offers a Day Support Option (DSO) program weekdays from 9 am to 3 pm. This program is community-based and focuses on age appropriate, person centered activities of interest for people with developmental disabilities in the northwest corner of Connecticut. DSO is designed to offer engaging, enriching, and fun things to do in Litchfield County—capitalizing on this beautiful New England setting. Employment Exploration Option (EEO) In addition to the traditional DSO option, the Employment Exploration Option (EEO) is available for individuals interested in starting a micro business or developing their job skills. In Home Supports Program Our In Home Supports Program provides services to people, ages 8 and up, in their homes, allowing them to maintain an independent living environment within their community. Services include, but are not limited to, advancing life and social skills, providing individualized extracurricular programming, as well as developing and implementing behavior plans. Comprised of two DDS-funded services, Behavioral Supports Program (BSP), serving ages 8-21; and Supported Living, serving ages 21 and up, In Home Supports aspires to provide a caring, supportive environment in which individuals thrive and families grow together. Individual Day Supports This program supports adults with developmental disabilities in the community to participate in local community events, volunteering or recreational activities. Behavioral Supports Program The Behavioral Supports Program (BSP) also integrates parent support and education. Staff and parents actively participate with their supported family member in community events, volunteer opportunities, and recreational activities. Individualized Supported Employment Services Our supported employment services include skills development, needs assessment, résumé and interview support, job development and placement support, on-the-job training, and situational assessments. We assist individuals in acquiring and maintaining integrated employment in the community and provide job-coaching for ongoing training and support. The program is designed to build on the normalcy and stability of the school environment in order to overcome barriers to educational engagement.
