EdAdvance is continuing work through Connecticut Green LEAF Schools, a partnership between EdAdvance; Connecticut Outdoor & Environmental Education Association; and the CT State Departments of Education, Public Health, and Energy and Environmental Protection. Green LEAF Schools are recognized as those that: provide effective environmental and sustainability education, improve the health and wellness of students and staff, reduce environmental impact and cost of the resources used in the school. CT Green LEAF Schools EdAdvance is continuing work through Connecticut Green LEAF Schools, a partnership between EdAdvance; Connecticut Outdoor & Environmental Education Association; and the CT State Departments of Education, Public Health, and Energy and Environmental Protection. Through EdAdvance, Green LEAF was recently awarded a two-year grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to support current Green LEAF schools and encourage new schools to join. Green LEAF Schools are recognized as those that: provide effective environmental and sustainability education, improve the health and wellness of students and staff, reduce environmental impact and cost of the resources used in the school. EdAdvance supports approximately 130 Green LEAF schools across the state by offering ongoing professional development workshops for teachers, access to educational resources, grant funding opportunities for special programs or purchasing products, field trips for participating urban elementary and middle school students, and assistance with applications for national Green Ribbon status. EdAdvance's Youth & Adult Developmental Services are dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals with disabilities, ages 8 and up, using a person-centered, community based approach. These services help individuals to live, grow, and become more independent and productive members of their communities. Our programs support personal choice, collaboration, innovation, and respect. Day Support Option (DSO) EdAdvance offers a Day Support Option (DSO) program weekdays from 9 am to 3 pm. This program is community-based and focuses on age appropriate, person centered activities of interest for people with developmental disabilities in the northwest corner of Connecticut. DSO is designed to offer engaging, enriching, and fun things to do in Litchfield County—capitalizing on this beautiful New England setting. Employment Exploration Option (EEO) In addition to the traditional DSO option, the Employment Exploration Option (EEO) is available for individuals interested in starting a micro business or developing their job skills. In Home Supports Program Our In Home Supports Program provides services to people, ages 8 and up, in their homes, allowing them to maintain an independent living environment within their community. Services include, but are not limited to, advancing life and social skills, providing individualized extracurricular programming, as well as developing and implementing behavior plans. Comprised of two DDS-funded services, Behavioral Supports Program (BSP), serving ages 8-21; and Supported Living, serving ages 21 and up, In Home Supports aspires to provide a caring, supportive environment in which individuals thrive and families grow together. Individual Day Supports This program supports adults with developmental disabilities in the community to participate in local community events, volunteering or recreational activities. Behavioral Supports Program The Behavioral Supports Program (BSP) also integrates parent support and education. Staff and parents actively participate with their supported family member in community events, volunteer opportunities, and recreational activities. Individualized Supported Employment Services Our supported employment services include skills development, needs assessment, résumé and interview support, job development and placement support, on-the-job training, and situational assessments. We assist individuals in acquiring and maintaining integrated employment in the community and provide job-coaching for ongoing training and support. The program’s goal is to support parents as their children grow and develop. The program’s goal is to support parents as their children grow and develop. Birth to Three works closely with families and school districts to ensure a smooth transition to pre-kindergarten services at age 3. Birth to Three is based on an integrated developmental model which places children in the context of their families and surrounding environment EdAdvance Birth to Three is a comprehensive, early intervention program. We provide full developmental evaluations and early intervention services to children who experience significant developmental delays and provides support to their parents as their children grow and develop. Individualized services are directed at sharing strategies with families, which enhance their child’s development, and are incorporated into their child’s natural daily routines and activities. Intervention services are provided in the child’s most natural environment. We provide autism evaluations and early intervention services to children who are diagnosed with autism. The full autism assessment may consist of a variety of tools.
