SMHS combines small class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio to ensure each student receives individualized support. Increasing School-Based Mental Health Services in Rural Northwestern CT (SBMHS-NW CT) is a multi-pronged approach to increase the number of credentialed school-based mental health providers and services. Overriding project goals are to increase the number of credentialed SBMH providers and increase SBMH services in small rural schools in NW CT. This effort will be managed by EdAdvance staff. School-Based Mental Health Services in Rural NW CT EdAdvance has been awarded an $8.7 million U.S. Department of Education grant to increase school-based mental health services in 32 K-12 schools in Northwestern CT over the next five years. This multi-pronged approach aims to increase the number of credentialed school-based mental health providers and service in small rural schools in northwestern Connecticut. Early Start CT Family Programs Early Childhood & Family Programs Quality early childhood experiences, which are grounded in developmentally appropriate practices, provide a solid foundation for learning that has long term positive benefits for children. The early childhood programs provide high quality educational experiences. All of our programs provide comprehensive child development and family support services that support the social, emotional, physical, and educational development of children and families in our programs. We also provide professional development and consultation services for early childhood and after school providers. Our professional development and consultation services are recognized as exemplary and much sought after by school districts, early care providers, and after school providers. Early Childhood Training, Coaching and Consultation Provides high quality training to early care and education staff throughout our region, including workshops, nationally recognized speakers, college courses, and training in leadership and administration. Consultation, monitoring, evaluation, coaching and training are provided to school districts and early childhood providers with a focus on curriculum, assessment, and the preschool environment. Professional development includes specialized focus on infant and toddler development and infant mental health. Accreditation support and quality improvement services are provided to early childhood programs seeking National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation. The program takes place Thursday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:30 at Indian Rock Nature Preserve in Bristol. There are two separate sessions, one in fall and one in spring. Registration forms are available from program teachers at each participating school. At the program, students enjoy fun environmental science activities. ASOLA provides students a safe, fun outdoor learning environment where students meet new friends and play games with the support of caring teachers and environmental educators. Watershed STEM with 21st Century CCLC Partners With funding from U.S. Department of Education, NOAA, NAAEE, and National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, EdAdvance partnered with Waterbury and Ansonia 21st CCLC sites to offer outdoor experiential watershed STEM afterschool student programs. WoW! and School Grounds to Sound encouraged students to explore their watersheds and more deeply understand the connections between their local inland communities and Connecticut’s coast at Long Island Sound. They learned about human impacts on climate change and how daily choices and actions can benefit the environment. School Grounds to Sound (SGS) School Grounds to Sound (SGS) is an engaging, place-based learner-centered academic enrichment program designed to increase watershed STEM skills and support Meaningful Watershed Environmental Education (MWEEs) for 90 diverse K-3 students in three 21st CCLC sites in Bristol, Connecticut. Students meet once a week after school at Indian Rock Nature Preserve in Bristol. The project demonstrates for young learnes how trash travels through watersheds. Students engage in a local stewardship project called Bristol TerraCycle Brigade where they collect snack wrappers at home and school for recycling, encouraging everyday behavior changes that positively impact the environment.

Launch Pathway The Launch Pathway is a one-year program specifically designed for high school seniors with disabilities who are interested in gaining an early college experience during the 2025-2026 academic year. This unique pathway focuses on providing transitional services that are aimed at helping these students bridge the gap between high school and college. Key Features of the Launch Pathway: Early College Experience (ECE): Students in the Launch Pathway can begin their college education while finishing high school, gaining early experience of being on a college campus. Credit Accumulation: Launch Pathway participants can earn up to 12 college credits in a single year, advancing their higher education goals significantly.
